Transparency further down the aid chain

As we wrote previously, IATI is rapidly scaling up! In recent years the initiative has grown from around 380 publishers at the start of 2016 to 1200 as of August 2020, with over 100 new publishers joining in the last half year alone. This is a great development and shows the value of IATI as a movement: the more publishers join, the more meaningful the standard can become. Of course it is not just about publishing as such, but more about the quality of the data, so it can be reused for multiple purposes like visualisation, dashboards, trend analysis etc.

The growth is stimulated by large donors pushing for more transparency through IATI, both towards their direct funding recipients as well as towards the local partners of the funding recipients further down the IATI chain. This is an interesting challenge, as it means a need for more training and capacity to ensure the publication of meaningful, consistent and good quality data. And we are happy to help!
