2020: Future Developments

We foresee 2020 to be the start of this new phase, which is marked by both extensive as well as intensive growth, helping various governments, embassies and a number of non profit organisations to further optimize their operations to ultimately enable them to make data driven decisions.

Data Literacy for Data-Driven Decision Making

Earlier this year, Data4Development was approached by Save the Children Netherlands (StC) with the question: how can we, at Save the Children, increase our data literacy to become more data-driven?
This question made our hearts pound as data-driven decision making and data literacy run through our veins! To tackle the challenge of StC and support their trajectory towards Data Literacy, we designed a Data Literacy Journey.

How we design a dashboard: Embedding People, Processes, Technology

Many assume that developing a dashboard is centered around digital technology. However, we as Data4Development believe technology is just one piece of the puzzle. In creating a dashboard, we are convinced that we need people and the processes as much as we need technology. Only when people, processes and technology are truly aligned, can technology really work and data starts to speak.

The new IATI Validator is open for public testing

With the start of public testing of the new IATI Validator, we like to briefly look back at how we got here, and our vision for the future.
The International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) was a key ingredient that brought us together to start Data4Development. We already had experience in helping organisations get on their way publishing IATI data about their work and results, and to use it to coordinate, plan and monitor their efforts.

How D4D makes data driven decisions

“Lead by data driven knowledge” has been D4D’s slogan since our start in 2015. Our purpose is to support NGO’s and non profit organisations with improving the way they produce and use their data in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness of  their activities. The term ‘data driven’ can be ambiguous. It is quite a broad and intangible concept. Last week, D4D had an evaluation meeting about its content and outreach strategy, supported by clear data. This example shows how, at Data4Development, we practice what we preach.

A new Open Tea is coming!

We invite you to the second D4D Open Tea of 2019 at PAX in Utrecht! This time, three NGO data experts will take the stage to talk about their data challenges in order to get some insights from other experts in the room.

Spreadsheets2IATI

How do you produce and publish IATI files if you have more than a handful of projects? And if the information is spread over multiple systems? Data4Development now offers a ‘Spreadsheet to IATI service’ to help you with this.

Strategic Partnerships: Strengthen your report

For those organisations participating in the new cycle of Strategic Partnerships, an important factor that the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) weighs in their decision is the financial and organisational capacity of the partner to implement their projects.

The new official IATI Validator

The last few months, Data4Development, especially Rolf Kleef, has been working on IATI’s new official Data Validator. In the fall, the new validator will finally launch and help organisations check the quality of their IATI publications more easily!
